Life in the 3rd Dimension: The Outward Life

Pastor Tim continued his message about living life in 3-D. Last week he spoke about living inwardly by controlling our thoughts, emotions, & actions. This week he spoke about living a life of righteousness by the things we do, not the things we avoid. Righteousness has to do with how we, as Christians, serve others. It begins with having the right attitude. The many blessings we have are to be shared(hello??? building fund). We are to be a shining light in the darkness. Where there is sadness we are to bring joy, and where there is anger we are to make peace. We are righteous by what Jesus does in each of us.

James 2:20-25 (NIV) 20You foolish man, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless? 21Was not our ancestor Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? 22You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did. 23And the scripture was fulfilled that says, "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness, "and he was called God's friend. 24You see that a person is justified by what he does and not by faith alone.
25In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction?

Peter 2:24 (NIV) 24He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.

Proverbs 11:18 (NIV) 18 The wicked man earns deceptive wages, but he who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward.

Psalm 33:5 (NIV) 5 The LORD loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love.

Matthew 5:6 (NIV) 6Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.

Life in the 3rd Dimension: The Inward Life

First I would like to apoligize for the absence of blog updates. Now back to the important stuff!

Pastor Tim spoke about how Christian's are 3-D people. We have inward, outward, & upward lives. Today he spoke about the inward life- self control. There are three areas of discipline which we must maintain to keep self control as followers of Christ. Thoughts,Emotions & Actions. As Christians we should not think negatively ("stinking thinking") because we are all on the train to heaven "choo choo". According to the NLTHV (New Living Tim Hatch Version) we must "chill out" over the small issues we have in our daily lives. We must be mindful of our tongue, Mt 12:34 [NIV] "For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks".

Is 55:8 [NIV] "'For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,' declares the Lord. "

Pr 29:25[NIV] "Fear of man will prove to be snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe."

Is 41:10 [NIV] "Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God."

1Co 6:19-20 [NIV] "Don't you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have recieved for God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body."

1Pe 1:13 [NIV] "Prepare you minds for acton; be self controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed."

Truth Must Be Restored

During our gathering today, Pastor Tim spoke about truths that must be restored in the church. The followers of Christ are all equal in his eyes; male and female, preachers and followers. The whole body of Christ are ministers. We all need to be ambassadors of Christ, to be representatives of Christ in all that we do. We need to have joy in what we do and do these things for the glory of God! Ministry happens outside of church. Followers of Christ need to bring the love of the Lord to the people who are not yet open to or aware of it. We prepare for this by reading the Word of God and building ourselves up on Sundays by praising the Lord.

Pastor Tim also spoke about how religeon and tradition are not what God wanted. God wants us to live by the whole message of the Bible, not just the parts of it emphasized by a particular denomination. In addition, tradition destroys truth. In Mark 7:8[NIV], Jesus says "You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to the traditions of men." God is the truth!

Psalms 86:11[NIV] Teach me your way, O Lord, and I will walk in your truth.

John 1:17[NIV] For the law was given through Moses, grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

John 3:21[NIV] But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God.

Hello everyone

I just want to apologize, I have not kept up in posting my weekly blog. School has gotten very tough, and consumes most of my free time. I am going to try to catch up on my posts this weekend. Well not to leave you totally with out something to read, please comment on this I would like your feedback. I wrote this shortly after I was saved in April. Kevin Dumas (member not the mayor).

Rose Among Thorns

As one foot is in front of the other I fall behind,
as I pray to walk in the shadow of your footsteps.
Your name is on my tongue with storms in my eyes.
My heart cries out in repentance,
for your love is as sure as the morning.
My worldly faults read before me as my head hung in shame,
but then the words you spoke next I shall remember forever:
"follow me and all is forgiven".
As I fell on my face I knew that without you as my Savior I would live in silence.
Now I run to your house so that I may praise your name.
I just want to say thank you, thank you my Lord Jesus....
my rose among thorns.

Success Begins on Sunday

On 10/30 Pastor Tim spoke about how prasing the Lord and hearing the Word of our Lord prepares us for the week ahead. On Sundays we look vertically instead of horizontally. We praise the Lord and experience his presence. We hear the word of God and the promises he has made us. These Bible is the Lord's promise to us. We need to read, understand, and even memorize the Word. We recieve God's power on Sundays which helps us throughout our week in our lives. We also pray to the Lord to work in our lives so that we may help more people accept his love.

Psalms 5:8[NIV] Lead me, O Lord, in your righteousness because of my enemies- make straight your way before me.

1 Chronicles 16:25[NIV] For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise.

2 Peter 1:3-4[NIV] His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by hs own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
